The Hepatitis B Vaccine: What Went Wrong?

The United States embarked on a “universal” program for hepatitis B vaccination in 1991. As of this month, there have been 47,198 reports to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System describing complications following the administration of the hepatitis B vaccine alone or with other vaccines. Of these, 23,406 reports — including 795 deaths — have been about children 14 years of age and younger.

Calculating U.S. Influenza Deaths

For years, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been telling anyone who would listen: “Every year in the United States, on average: 5 percent to 20 percent of the population gets the flu, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and about 36,000 people die from flu.”

When Finding Nothing Is Wonderful

Scientists are expected to discover things. They are applauded when they do and sometimes ostracized when they don’t.
Mainstream researchers investigating the connection between autism and the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, however, seem pleased when they find nothing. They hurry to publish their “findings” to the jubilation of “authorities.”

Measles And The World Cup

Early yesterday morning, the Associated Press, quoting France’s Ministry of Health, reported that 1,169 individuals, mostly children and teenagers, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany had contracted measles.

Influenza Vaccination During Pregnancy: A Very Bad Idea

“Influenza vaccination during all trimesters of pregnancy is now universally recommended in the United States. We critically reviewed the influenza vaccination policy of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice (ACIP) and the citations that were used to support their recommendations.” Thus began the abstract to a paper by David Ayoub, MD, and me, which was just published in the summer issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

Mumps: Here And There And Everywhere

In spite of superior MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination rates, small epidemics of mumps have occurred in distant areas. During a recent outbreak in the U.S. Midwest, college students did not seem interested in receiving additional doses of MMR vaccine. Mumpsvax, the monovalent mumps vaccine, may have been a better option.

RIP: NIP Quietly Slips Away

In the quietest move ever by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Immunization Program (NIP) became the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) sometime in April 2006. Anne Schuchat, MD, the recently named director of NIP became NCIRD director.

“NCIRD's proposed mission will be to prevent disease, disability and death through immunization and by control of respiratory and related diseases. The new center will support both domestic and global immunization and respiratory disease prevention and control priorities, and will link epidemiology and laboratory science around vaccine-preventable diseases and acute respiratory infections with prevention and control programs and strong communication science.”

By changing its name and by specifically mentioning “respiratory disease prevention and control priorities” in its mission, the new center is self-anointed the “point agency” against the “threat” of a bird flu pandemic.

Pneumococcus: Penicillin to Prevnar

The abuse of penicillin and other antibiotics has led to the proliferation of resistant strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococcus). The wide use of Prevnar, a pediatric pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine, since 2000 is now resulting in problems that could have been anticipated and should now be disclosed.

The Battle Of The States: What Happened In Illinois?

Before a law banning thimerosal from vaccines was enacted, the Illinois Department of Public Health and a few high-ranking pediatricians within the Illinois chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics had planned an exemption.
An upper echelon CDC employee was enlisted as a liaison between IDPH and industry.
What really happened in Illinois?

A Deplorable U-Turn

U-turns are forbidden on most busy streets because they are dangerous. Unless you are a stuntman in a Hollywood movie, you’ll get hurt or hurt someone else if you make a reckless U-turn.
It is now evident that the “Thimerosal is OK” lobby is hell-bent on reversing the safe course on which the United States embarked in 1999. Infants and unborn babies will surely be hurt.
You can bet on it.

Thimerosal: One Huge Mistake

Injecting mercury into infants in the past century was never a good idea.

Is Mandatory Vaccination Destroying An Important Bond?

An article by human rights journalist Anai Rhoads Ford entitled “Why signing a waiver to avoid vaccines can be considered abuse” was recently circulated to parents’ groups in the United States. Originally written in the fall of 2005, it says, “Recently, The Washington Post printed an article about vaccine waivers that could jeopardize your parental rights. In the article was the following comment: ‘The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that doctors ask parents who refuse to vaccinate their children to sign a waiver indicating they are aware of the risks of refusal.’”

The Birth Of A Pandemic

Occasionally a major genetic shift in the influenza virus results in a deadly new virus strain to which the human population does not have immunity, and a global pandemic outbreak occurs…. Public health officials and the scientific community agree that the world is long overdue for a pandemic influenza outbreak.

Sanofi Pasteur, Jan. 7, 2004

In an announcement two years ago, pharmaceutical companies Aventis and Crucell revealed that they had agreed to further develop and commercialize influenza vaccine products based on PER.C6™ cell line technology.
Shaking Wrong Beliefs

The medical controversies section of the recent issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons (1) features three outstanding articles on the more and more controversial subject of shaken baby syndrome (SBS).

Together, these papers contribute immensely to the understanding of this obscure syndrome by debunking assumptions that have been accepted for some time as “proof” of abuse of young and innocent infants:
